A common cold causes you to develop symptoms such as cough, congestion, a runny nose, mild body ache, headache and ear pain. Out of these symptoms, we will focus on ear pain caused by a cold. The ear pain is caused as a result of the eardrums getting inflamed by the viral infection due to the cold. The ear pain can develop during or after a cold and is mostly a dull or sharp ache, however, it can be irritating. In some cases, a burning earache can be noticed. When you develop a cold, an earache can be caused by congestion, middle ear infection and sinus infection.
