Buying sodium bicarbonate in bulk brings much more benefits than you think, being an inexpensive product and with so many benefits that it can bring, having good amounts of these salts within our reach is a very good idea.
If you no longer want to buy cleaning chemicals, baking soda is a good place to start. You don't have to spend on expensive products or expose yourself to harsh chemicals to get the best of beauty treatments. Read on for all the ways this handy powder can help.
1. Hunt odors
It is so good at removing unpleasant odors from just about anything. Have your children vomited in your car? The next time it happens, clean as much as you can, and then completely cover the stain with baking soda.
In a week you will never know there was such an incident. If you don't cover it with baking soda, that smell can last for years. Truly.
2. Softens hard or dry skin
Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a foot spa or tub and soak in for at least 15 minutes. Add a little essential oil, rub with a cloth or sponge, pumice stone or rough until your little fingers are wonderfully soft and smooth once more.
Add a small splash of olive or carrier oil to the water to ensure your skin is deeply hydrated at the same time.
3. Removes odors in the fridge
Stick a small bowl with a tablespoon or two of baking soda in the back corner of the smelly fridge. Within 24 hours it will smell sweet again.
4. Neutralizes odors in the garbage can
Sprinkle a good handful on the bottom of the trash to prevent or cure unavoidable odors.
5. Sanitize fruits and vegetables
Remove chemical pesticides from fruits and vegetables by adding 3 tablespoons to a cup of cold water and rinsing them in it for a few seconds.
6. Disappears odors in the closet
Do you have a damp closet with a musty smell? Put a bowl of baking soda inside and not only will you eliminate the smell, but it will also absorb excess moisture. You may need to remove or replace the baking soda regularly, depending on how wet the area is.
7. Disinfect washing machine and towels
Half a cup of baking soda can be added to the washing machine if you are washing white clothes, or to a particularly smelly wash to remove odors from your machine. This is especially useful when washing towels.
8. Eliminate odors in shoes
Sprinkle a generous layer of baking soda inside all kinds of smelly shoes and leave at least overnight. A tip before using them again.
9. Sanitize work surfaces
Sprinkle on a damp cloth to clean work surfaces, kitchens, bathrooms, sinks, etc., without the risk of scratching and without the need for cleaning chemicals.
10. Eliminate odors and disinfect thermos and beverage cans
Baking soda is perfect for cleaning thermos and beverage bottles. Put 2 teaspoons of the powder with freshly boiled water and leave it overnight. The next morning throws it in the sink, (or re-use it by putting it to soak over smelly clothes) and wash the bottles.
